Give your agent context, instructions, and best practices for managing podcasts.

What is a Skill?

While the MCP Server gives your agent the tools to interact with Repodify (like searching for episodes and creating feeds), a Skill gives your agent the knowledge of how to use those tools effectively.

Our official repodify-skill.md file contains predefined system prompts, workflow examples (like "How to build a Mixtape"), and edge-case handling instructions that drastically improve the reliability of autonomous agents.

Install the Skill via CLI

We maintain a dedicated open-source repository for our AI skill. If your agent CLI supports it, you can install the skill instantly with one command.

Manual Installation

If you are using a chat model like Claude or ChatGPT, you can manually copy the instructions from our open-source skill file.

  • Claude Projects: Paste the text into the "Custom Instructions" box when setting up a new Project, or attach the downloaded file directly to your Project knowledge base.
  • OpenAI Custom GPTs: Paste the text into the "Instructions" field when configuring your custom GPT.
  • Cursor & Windsurf: Clone our skill repository and copy the .cursorrules or .windsurfrules files directly into the root of your project directory.

What's inside?

The skill teaches the AI how to string the MCP tools together into powerful autonomous workflows. For example, it explains the "Playlist Workflow":

  1. Call create_repodcast to spin up a new feed container.
  2. Call search_apple_podcasts repeatedly using the user's topic to harvest audio URLs.
  3. Loop through the results and intelligently filter out irrelevant episodes.
  4. Call add_episode_to_repodcast for the best matches to build the final feed.
  5. Report back to the user with the final public URL.
